Jordan and Its Relations with Arab Countries.. Supporting Palestine and Confronting Regional Threats
إبراهيم الحسبان

Jordan, as one of the main countries in the Middle East, plays a pivotal role in maintaining regional stability. Thanks to its strategic location, Jordan has established close relations with Arab countries, focusing on security, political, and economic cooperation. Jordan has also been a trusted partner for its neighbors in combating terrorism and extremism, with a special emphasis on supporting the Palestinian cause as a core element of its foreign policy. This commitment stems not only from the historic and cultural ties between Jordan and Palestine but also from Jordan’s responsibility to protect the holy sites in Jerusalem, including Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Jordan’s Support for Palestine.. A Multidimensional Approach

Jordan plays an unparalleled role in supporting the Palestinian people. It advocates for a two-state solution as the foundation for lasting peace in the region. Its role extends beyond diplomacy into practical and humanitarian fields, consistently providing aid such as food, medicine, and medical supplies to Palestinians, especially in Gaza. For example, in July 2025, Jordan, in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, conducted an airlift to deliver essential aid to Gaza.

Furthermore, Jordan hosts a large number of Palestinian refugees, making it a key pillar of stability in the region. The country cares not only about humanitarian issues but also about preserving the cultural and religious identity of Palestinians.

Challenges from the Iranian Regime

Despite Jordan’s efforts to maintain stability, it faces serious threats from the Iranian regime. Tehran, through its proxies such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and militias in Syria, seeks to destabilize Jordan by smuggling weapons and drugs. These actions are part of Iran’s broader strategy to expand its influence in the region and destabilize Arab countries. During the Gaza war, Iran launched an media campaign against Jordan after it intercepted Iranian drones. The Iranian regime claimed they were headed toward Israel, but Jordan stated they had violated its airspace. In March 2024, Jordan successfully thwarted an Iranian plot to smuggle weapons into its territory, demonstrating its vigilance against external threats.

The Role of Iranian Resistance in Achieving Regional Stability

To counter Iran’s destructive influence, supporting Iranian resistance, led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, is vital. This resistance presents a ten-point program for a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear Iran, offering a long-term solution for regional stability. The program is based on principles of democracy, gender equality, and respect for human rights. It has received backing from legislators and prominent figures from various countries. Arab countries, especially Jordan, can contribute to weakening the Iranian regime by strengthening ties with this resistance, thereby enhancing regional security.

Jordan: A Model of Moderation and Stability

Thanks to its strong support for the Palestinian cause, its close cooperation with Arab countries, and its stance against Iranian regime threats, Jordan is recognized as a model of moderation and stability in the Middle East. It has successfully played a leading role in easing regional tensions by maintaining a balanced foreign policy. However, to preserve this position and promote regional stability, closer cooperation with the Iranian resistance and strengthening Arab alliances are necessary. These efforts will benefit Jordan and serve the interests of the entire region, helping to build a peaceful and sustainable future.
