German Minister Calls for Residence Permits to Be Revoked and Several Syrians Involved in Violence to Be Deported
وزير ألماني يطالب بسحب إقامة وترحيل عدة سوريين متورطين في العنف

René Wilke, Brandenburg’s Minister for Integration, has called for an expedited review of the residence status of several Syrians following their involvement in violent incidents.

Wilke told the German Press Agency (dpa) that he had informed the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) that it should examine the cases of 11 Syrians in Potsdam and five others in Frankfurt (Oder).

The call followed the widespread circulation of a video showing a group of teenagers, including Syrians, violently assaulting a German teenager outside a school in Frankfurt (Oder).

Wilke said deportation could be considered in some cases, noting that it might be an option if a minor is out of control and the family has made no efforts to support integration. However, he stressed that each case would be assessed individually, making swift decisions unlikely. The reviews could take several months.

Under standard procedures, authorities first consider whether protection status should be revoked for Syrians convicted of crimes, single men, and people who are unemployed. Employment and integration into society are also taken into account, as these factors may present obstacles to deportation.
