Internal Security in Deir Ezzor Launches Extensive Campaign to Pursue Wanted Persons and Remnants of the Former Regime

On Sunday, July 6, the Internal Security Command in Deir Ezzor announced its success in apprehending a number of wanted individuals involved in various crimes in the city of Albu Kamal. This comes as part of the second phase of the security campaign aimed at eradicating remnants of the former regime.
Colonel Dorrar Al-Shamalān, Commander of Internal Security in Deir Ezzor, issued a statement outlining the preliminary results of the campaign targeting “Fauj 47,” affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, in the Sugarie and Hamdan areas of Albu Kamal. The statement indicated the detention of several wanted elements involved in crimes that threaten security and stability, in addition to confiscating weapons and addressing assaults on citizens.
Regarding the details of the campaign, Al-Shamalān noted that forces have begun expanding operations toward Albu Kamal city to pursue lawbreakers, including arms and drug traffickers, as well as criminal networks threatening civil peace.
A correspondent from Enab Baladi in Deir Ezzor reported that the number of detainees exceeded 120 individuals, arrested in the areas of Sugarie, Al-Hari, Al-Ghabra, and Hamdan.
Remnant groups of the regime and Iranian militias attempted to flee toward areas under the control of “SDF” units, but security forces thwarted these attempts and arrested some following clashes. Security operations are still ongoing amidst a state of high alert, with a curfew imposed on the city and its countryside.
The campaign involved forces from the 66th and 86th Divisions of the Ministry of Defense, according to the reporter.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts with the Ministry of Defense to eliminate remnants of the former regime, following the success achieved in Miaideen area, as indicated by the Internal Security Command statement.
In a separate context, Colonel Dorrar Al-Shamalān explained that the second phase came after confirming the involvement of “Fauj 47” elements in lawless practices, including assaults on citizens, threatening security patrols, and violating reconciliation procedures by not surrendering weapons, not reviewing reconciliation centers, and engaging in actions that threaten public stability.
Al-Shamalān emphasized that there is no place for parallel authority or leniency with those who try to impose influence outside the rule of law. He confirmed that the campaign will continue until all goals are achieved, to reinforce the rule of law and the authority of the state. He called on citizens to cooperate with security forces, stressing that this battle is one of stability and justice, and anyone involved or supporting criminal remnants will not be exempt from accountability.
It is worth noting that the Internal Security Command launched the first phase of the campaign on June 16 in Miamdeen city, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, during which they arrested wanted individuals involved in various crimes including murder, arms smuggling, and drug trafficking. Colonel Dorrar Al-Shamalān confirmed that 85% of the first phase’s objectives were accomplished, resulting in the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and the confiscation of aluminum smelting workshops and stolen electrical cables.
Elements involved in destructive crimes and drug trafficking were also detained, despite deadlines given to them for review at security reconciliation centers. Some ignored these procedures, reflecting the seriousness and determination of the campaign to eliminate remnants of the previous regime and its allies.
