The Israeli military announced today, Monday, that it carried out airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Yemen. Footage released shows fighter jets taking off to attack Houthi-controlled sites in the ports of Hodeidah, Rass Isa, and Salif, with the military stating that approximately 20 fighter aircraft participated in bombing Houthi locations in Yemen.

According to the Israeli military, about 60 shells were launched at Houthi targets, alongside an attack on the "Galaxi Leader" ship, which has been held by the Houthis for several months.

Early Monday morning, Israeli forces conducted airstrikes targeting ports and facilities under Houthi control in Yemen, to which the Houthis responded by launching missiles at Israel.

These operations were in retaliation for an attack on Sunday targeting a ship flying the Liberian flag in the Red Sea, which caught fire and was inundated with water, forcing its crew to evacuate later.

In the midst of heightened tensions, security officials directly accused the Houthis of responsibility for the attack on the Greek-owned cargo ship "Magic Sea," especially as security sources reported that remotely controlled explosive-laden boats appeared to have targeted the vessel following small arms fire and missile attacks.

The escalation by the Houthis with a maritime offensive could lead to the return of US and Western forces to the region, especially after US President Donald Trump included the group in a broad campaign of airstrikes.

This escalation occurs amid a sensitive regional situation, with a potential temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas being considered, while Iran is evaluating the possibility of resuming negotiations over its nuclear program after US airstrikes targeted its most sensitive nuclear sites. The war between Israel and Iran continues to intensify.

In political developments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu traveled to Washington to meet with President Trump, bringing with him all the latest updates and dossiers regarding the current situation.

The Israeli military clarified that it targeted the ports controlled by the Houthis in Hodeidah, Rass Isa, and Salif, as well as the power plant in Rass al-Kathib.

The military reaffirmed that these ports are used by the Houthi regime to transfer weapons from Iran and are employed in carrying out terrorist operations against Israel and its allies.

It also confirmed that it attacked the "Galaxi Leader" vessel, a cargo ship seized by the Houthis in November 2023 at the start of their attacks in the Red Sea. The military accused the Houthis of installing radar systems on the ship for tracking vessels in the international maritime arena.
