Israeli Army Commander Announces Destruction of Tunnels in Jabalya
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated today, Thursday, via his X platform account, that his forces are operating day and night across all combat zones to ensure Israel’s protection. He emphasized that the army will not hesitate to take any necessary measures to maintain security in the territories, confirming that they have destroyed many tunnels used by Hamas in the Jabalya area north of Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that Israeli military operations are ongoing in all parts of the strip and that these will lead to the deaths of a large number of fighters. He also stated that the forces continue to carry out their operations with high efficiency. On the other hand, a local Gaza source, Mahmoud Basal, revealed the destruction of large parts of the southern Zaytoun neighborhood, with more than 80 residents displaced from the area. This comes amid ongoing bombing and continuous shelling on Jabalya, along with repeated explosions using robots and explosive devices, in addition to the use of "Quadcopter" drones to drop explosives on civilian homes, increasing destruction and losses, according to Anadolu Agency reports.
In the context of developments, reports indicate that the Israeli army has been conducting shelling since yesterday. Since the beginning of August, at least 52 people have been killed in Gaza strikes, with large parts of the Zaytoun neighborhood destroyed using explosive robots and artillery. The military aims to achieve objectives that include displacing residents and destroying 75% of targeted areas, as part of a renewed Israeli plan to dismantle Palestinian infrastructure and reduce their military and civilian capabilities.
