Lujain Ismail Reveals Details of His Brother’s Year-Long Detention and His Family’s Forced Eviction
لجين إسماعيل

Syrian actor Lujain Ismail revealed that his brother has been detained for more than a year without trial or access to legal representation. He said the family spent months unaware of his whereabouts before discovering—after paying sums of money—that he was being held by the General Security Directorate, according to his account.

Ismail said his brother’s fate remains unclear, noting that the family had received no clear information about the charges against him or the conditions of his detention.

The Syrian actor also said that security personnel had imposed a security cordon around the neighborhood and prevented his mother from reaching her daughters, according to his claims. He further alleged that the family’s home was raided at night and that his two sisters were removed from the house before being told that it had come under the control of security forces.

Ismail accused the authorities concerned of forcing his family to leave their home at gunpoint. He called for his brother’s whereabouts to be disclosed, his legal status clarified, and his right to legal defense and a fair trial guaranteed.

These allegations could not be independently verified. As of the time of publication, the General Security Directorate had not issued an official comment on the actor’s claims.
