Mohsen Tamer Afifa’s Family Discovers His Fate After Months of Waiting
محسن تامر عفيفة

After months of waiting and suffering, the family of young man Mohsen Tamer Afifa learned that their son, whom they believed was still alive in detention, was actually not alive. His body was found buried in a mass grave in Tel Al-Nasr in the city of Homs. This tragic outcome is part of the case of hundreds of victims who died either during detention or after being kidnapped by the Syrian Transitional government forces.

Mohsen Tamer Afifa, a resident of Karam Al-Louz neighborhood in Homs, was arrested on January 31 at Al-Fakhoura checkpoint after getting out of a taxi (servis). Over the following months, the family received repeated signals that he was being held at the central prison, then at Bālūna prison, where they continued sending food, clothes, and money. However, it later became clear that these aid supplies were stolen by security forces, and their son had died from the early days of his arrest, without the family having any precise information about his fate or the circumstances of his death.
