  • The Cry for Freedom Supports the Iranian People's Struggle; a People's Suffering and Unyielding Resilience
More than a Hundred Years of Struggle for Freedom
Khaldon Al-Shuyaitat

As a Jordanian citizen watching global events, I look with admiration and deep concern at the brave struggle of the Iranian people against tyranny and autocracy. For decades, this nation has suffered under oppressive regimes—whether it was the Shah's dictatorship supported by external forces to protect their interests, or the current regime that continues policies of marginalization and cruelty. These regimes relied on repression, dictatorship, marginalization, and bloodshed instead of the will of the people; they planted the seeds of resistance in the hearts of Iranians, who today steadfastly continue their struggle to restore their dignity and fundamental rights.

A People's Uprising Against Dictatorship
The will of the Iranian people is clearly reflected in their repeated uprisings against the ruling regime, which has failed to achieve justice or prosperity. This was emphasized in a speech by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the elected President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, on June 18, 2025, before the European Parliament. She confirmed that Iran is on the brink of a profound change, stating: “The Iranian people are determined to overthrow the religious dictatorship and will continue their struggle until freedom is achieved.” These words echo the heartbeat of the Iranian street, which rejects surrender and demands its right to self-determination and liberation from autocratic regimes imposed by the West in various forms.

The Dream of a Democratic Iran
The Iranian resistance aspires to build a state based on justice and equality, where religion is separated from the state, and human rights and minority rights are respected. Mrs. Rajavi has presented a ten-point plan that includes abolishing the death penalty, ensuring judicial independence, and Iran’s commitment to abandoning nuclear weapons programs. This plan is not merely a utopian vision but a practical program for a democratic Iran that contributes to regional stability.

On the ground, the uprising units organized thousands of protests over the past year. Meanwhile, executions reached record numbers, revealing the brutality of the regime. Despite this, the protests—described by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi as “unparalleled worldwide”—affirm the Iranian people's determination and resolve to continue their fight until their goals are achieved.

The Policy of Concession: An Obstacle to Progress
As Arabs, we see that Western policies of silence or appeasement towards the Mullah regime have contributed to its longevity. This policy has not only caused suffering for the Iranian people but also destabilized the region by supporting militias in countries like Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. Supporting the Iranian people's struggle is a decisive step toward regional stability. The international community must recognize the right of this people to resist oppression through all possible means.

The Need for Arab-Iranian Solidarity
From an Arab perspective, we call for solidarity with the Iranian people's just struggle. The victory of this people will be a victory for all the peoples of the region who long for freedom and dignity. Therefore, the need for an Arab solidarity with the Iranian people is clear. We also urge the international community to abandon policies of appeasement and recognize the right of the Iranian people to establish a democratic regime that reflects their aspirations. We also emphasize the importance of living in peace and stability. Let us work together for a region free of tyranny and weapons of mass destruction, where our peoples enjoy justice and peace. This can only be achieved by supporting the Iranian people's struggle against the mullah regime for the sake of freedom.
