President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani arrives in Damascus
Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, arrived in Damascus today, Monday, on an official visit during which he is meeting with Syria’s interim President, Ahmad Al-Sharrah. The two sides are currently holding an official meeting at the People’s Palace in Damascus.
This visit is the first by the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to Syria since the fall of the Assad regime. In a statement, the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region said Barzani will hold talks with President Al-Sharrah to discuss relations between Syria, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, prospects for joint cooperation, and other recent regional developments.
