Raqqa Farmers Protest at the Governorate for the Second Time Demanding Payment for Their Wheat
A protest by farmers took place in front of the Raqqa governorate building for the second time this week, objecting to delays in the payment owed to them for their wheat crop. Dozens of farmers gathered this morning at the governorate building demanding payment for their harvests and an end to what they described as procrastination and bureaucratic procedures that delay the disbursements.
The protesters called for speeding up the payments and improving the disbursement mechanism at the Agricultural Bank, emphasizing the need to honor the payment sequence according to delivery dates to protect farmers’ rights and avoid worsening their financial situation.
The farmers also urged the authorities to prioritize the most needy cases and to provide a clear timetable for payments to reduce the uncertainty they face. No official response has yet been issued by the governor’s office or the Agricultural Bank regarding the protesters’ demands or the payment schedule.
