Reuters: Secret Talks Held Between Syrian Officials and Hezbollah in Türkiye
Six informed sources said that Syrian officials and representatives of the Lebanese Hezbollah group held direct, secret talks in Türkiye in an effort to ease tensions between the two sides.
According to the sources, who spoke to Reuters and included two Syrian officials, a U.S. official, and a senior Lebanese security source close to Hezbollah, the meeting took place at least once last month.
The meeting is believed to be the first known gathering between Syrian government officials and Hezbollah representatives after years of hostility and tension between the two sides.
The sources did not disclose details of the talks or the issues discussed. Damascus and Hezbollah have not yet issued any official comment on the reported meeting.
