البرلمان التركي

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Turkish Parliament approved a decision to extend the presence of Turkish forces outside the borders for an additional three years, covering Syria and Iraq. The parliament also approved a two-year extension for the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon. This came during a general session that included a vote on a presidential memorandum signed by the president, which stipulates the continued Turkish presence in the three areas starting from October 30.

The memorandum explained that the extension responds to the current aspirations and needs of the Syrian administration, aiming to enhance its capabilities in combating terrorism and to support international and national efforts to achieve stability. It also clarified that necessary measures are being taken to protect Turkish national security from potential risks and threats, while emphasizing the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve stability in Syria, according to TRT Arabic.
