Trump announces suspension of planned strikes on Iran
President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Israel have agreed to suspend planned strikes on Iran in response to requests from Tehran and other countries in the Middle East, stressing that the suspension is conditional on reaching a swift agreement.
Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social that the U.S. is "ready to strike the Islamic Republic of Iran with levels of military terror and force not seen since World War II," but added that requests from Iran and regional countries led him to agree to cancel the attack "for the sake of the world’s future and the continued prosperity and success of Iran," provided a quick agreement is reached, and he confirmed that Israel shares this commitment.
Trump specified that the agreement must include "the immediate, full, and complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz" and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat, calling on all parties to begin working to achieve it.
