Latakia — Local sources report that political activist Tony Daniel was arrested today outside the Engineers' Syndicate building in Latakia after criticizing corruption within the syndicate on the TV program "Salon al-Jumhuriya."
Sources said Daniel was detained by a white van carrying several members of the so‑called "General Security" and taken to an unknown location. No official statement has yet been issued by security authorities or the Engineers' Syndicate explaining the arrest or the legal grounds.
Local activists are calling for disclosure of his whereabouts and detention conditions and for those responsible to be held accountable, while authorities have not yet provided an official response.
