Afrin: Preventing residents from accessing olive groves threatens the harvest season

Forces loyal to security and economic authorities in the village of Tuhanka (Al-Marawiya) in Afrin have prevented farmers from accessing their agricultural lands, jeopardizing the upcoming olive harvest season. Local sources told "Afrin Now" that elements affiliated with the so-called "Economics Office," stationed in the village, are imposing restrictions on returning farmers, aiming to steal and plunder the olive crop as the harvest season approaches.
The sources stated that these elements, belonging to the economic bureau linked to the "Mutaasim Brigade" affiliated with the Syrian National Army and supported by Turkey, are preventing farmers from entering their lands despite their holding official documents that authorize them to reclaim their properties after they were seized by others. The ban also affects those who paid bribes (extortion fees) to recover their lands or who followed the legal procedures announced by the regional administration.
The sources pointed out that among those who collected bribes from the residents were "Mustafa Abu Muhammad" and "Dura," reflecting widespread chaos and looting in the area. Despite promises by the regional administration to protect the harvest season and prevent its theft, the reality indicates signs of a new escalation that threatens the stability of farmers and risks the olive season after seven years of organized land looting and farmers' suffering.
