Discovery of illegal water connections in Jenin and Merg Ibn Amir

During a comprehensive inspection campaign on the main water line, the municipalities of Jenin and Merg Ibn Amir, in cooperation with the district police and the Water Authority, announced the seizure of a large number of illegal connections installed by individuals aiming to steal water.
The municipalities explained that these connections are used to benefit from water unlawfully, worsening the problem of water shortage faced by residents, especially during the summer when temperatures rise and demand for water increases. They noted that such practices negatively affect the available water quantities for law-abiding citizens, as many neighborhoods are deprived of their fair share of supplies.
The district police confirmed that they will not tolerate attacks on public infrastructure or exploitation for personal gain, emphasizing that water theft is a legal and moral violation, and necessary measures will be taken against offenders. The police also called on citizens to cooperate and report any violations or illegal connections to protect community rights and ensure fair resource distribution.
The Water Authority indicated that such attacks on the networks also cause technical damages, weakening pressure in the lines and increasing the likelihood of breakdowns and leaks, which leads to additional water waste and burdens maintenance teams.
The relevant authorities stressed that conserving water resources is a collective responsibility, especially given the difficult water conditions the region is experiencing. They urged everyone to ration consumption and abide by laws and regulations. They also confirmed that inspection teams will continue their field patrols to ensure network safety and prevent future violations.
At the end of the campaign, the municipalities expressed their gratitude to citizens who cooperated during the inspection process, affirming that the goal is to ensure equitable and efficient water distribution to all residents, away from practices that harm the public interest.
