Father of Syrian Detainee Demands Information on His Son’s Fate After Ten Months in Custody
والد معتقل سوري يطالب بالكشف عن مصير نجله بعد عشرة أشهر من الاحتجاز

The father of detainee "Hudhaifa Mohammad Samer Boubes" has called on the Syrian authorities to disclose his son’s whereabouts and fate and to release him immediately, or refer his case to the competent judiciary to ensure a fair and public trial.

In a video recording, the father said that his son had been detained for nearly ten months without being formally charged or allowing the family to visit or communicate with him. He added that the family remains unaware of the conditions of his detention or his legal status.

According to the family, Syrian security forces detained Hudhaifa in October or November 2025 over alleged links to ISIS. However, the family has not received clear official information about the charges against him or the authority holding him.

Hudhaifa’s family left Syria in 2012, when he was 13, and moved to Lebanon before later relocating to Egypt. According to his father, Hudhaifa returned to Syria in May 2025.

The father urged the authorities to immediately disclose his son’s location, clarify his legal status, ensure his basic rights, or release him if no charges against him are substantiated.

The appeal comes amid growing controversy over detention conditions and incommunicado detention in Syria, as testimonies and reports have alleged abuses, including torture and ill-treatment. These allegations require independent investigation and confirmation by credible sources.
