Gaza: 78 Palestinians Killed, Including Pregnant Woman and Her Baby, in Israeli Airstrikes

Israeli airstrikes and gunfire on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 78 Palestinians across various areas of the Gaza Strip, according to local medical sources. Among the victims was a pregnant woman whose baby was delivered after her death but did not survive.

The escalation claimed dozens of lives as people were trying to access food, despite Israel’s announcement of easing restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into the enclave.

Amid mounting international pressure over the worsening hunger crisis, Israel announced over the weekend a daily 10-hour pause in military operations in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and Al-Mawasi. It also designated safe routes to facilitate aid delivery and resumed international humanitarian air drops.

However, relief agencies have deemed these measures insufficient to address the sharp rise in famine levels within the territory.

Martin Penner, spokesperson for the United Nations World Food Programme, told the Associated Press that all 55 aid trucks that entered Gaza on Sunday were looted before reaching their destinations, with no significant changes on the ground, and no approval for alternative routes.

While Israel insists it is continuing military operations alongside humanitarian efforts, the reality in Gaza remains dire, with ongoing escalation and little tangible progress in alleviating the suffering of the population.
