Guterres: Israeli attack on Qatar is a violation of sovereignty, and Saudi Arabia denounces it
UN Secretary-General António Guterres reaffirmed on Tuesday that the Israeli attacks on Qatar represent a blatant assault on the sovereignty of the state and its territorial integrity. He pointed out that Qatar plays a very positive role in efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, as well as in efforts to release all hostages held by Hamas.
Guterres told reporters that it is important for all parties to cease escalation and work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, rather than destroying it.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemned the Israeli attack today, describing it as “a brutal assault and a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly State of Qatar.”
Saudi Arabia expressed its full solidarity with Qatar, deploying all its capabilities to support it in all measures it takes, warning of the serious consequences that may result from the continued Israeli occupation and its persistence in violations that surpass international law and all international norms.
The Kingdom also called on the international community to condemn this aggression and to work to put an end to the Israeli violations that threaten the security and stability of the region.
