Hamas Receives a Proposal for a Two-Month Ceasefire Including the Release of Israeli Prisoners

Hamas announced on Monday that it had received a new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza from Egyptian and Qatari mediators, aimed at ending the military escalation and establishing a two-month truce that includes the release of Israeli prisoners.
A Palestinian official told AFP that the Hamas delegation in Cairo received the proposal, which is part of the efforts by Egyptian and Qatari mediations to end the fighting in Gaza. The official indicated that the delegation, led by Khalil al-Hayya, confirmed that the proposal is based on a plan by US envoy Steve, and includes a sixty-day ceasefire with the release of Israeli prisoners in two batches.
The official emphasized that the proposal represents a framework for an agreement aimed at opening the door for indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, regarding a permanent ceasefire that could help restore stability and open new avenues for a settlement.
