Hekmat al-Hajri: No Accord with the Authorities in Damascus
Sheikh Hekmat al-Hajri, the leader of the Druze monotheists in Syria, announced that "there is no accord or agreement with the authorities in Damascus," according to the "Al-Arabiya" channel. Al-Hajri confirmed, stating: "We are at a stage of being or not being," emphasizing that "our work is focused on our interests as a community," adding that they will move toward what aligns with the interests of the Druze community.
In a related context, the committee drafting the constitutional declaration in Syria submitted the draft declaration to transitional Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara, who signed it and expressed hope that this signature would mark the beginning of a new era for Syria, contributing to replacing ignorance with knowledge and suffering with mercy.
The committee also confirmed, during a press conference attended by al-Shara in Damascus, that "the duration of the transitional period is set for five years." It indicated that the committee worked in an atmosphere of freedom without any constraints, while emphasizing the state's commitment to the unity of the land and people and respecting cultural specificities.
