Humanitarian Disaster: Two Children Die in Gaza Due to Malnutrition and Deteriorating Health Conditions
غزة

Palestinian medical sources announced on Tuesday morning the death of two children, Yusuf Al-Safadi from northern Gaza and Abdul Hamid Al-Ghalban from the city of Khan Younis in the south of the strip, as a result of severe malnutrition and famine.

The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that hospitals in Gaza are treating hundreds of cases of various ages suffering from extreme hunger and severe exhaustion, amid a severe shortage of medicines and hospital beds.

A Palestinian medical source stated that the number of deaths due to malnutrition in the area has reached 23 cases over the past two days. The sources indicated that approximately 17,000 children are suffering from severe malnutrition, with some cases experiencing exhaustion and memory loss due to extreme hunger.

They also confirmed that hospitals lack sufficient medicines and medical staff to accommodate the large numbers of severely malnourished patients, exacerbating the suffering of the population and threatening their lives further.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) issued warnings, noting that the level of malnutrition among children under five has doubled between March and June, due to the ongoing Israeli blockade of the sector.

UNRWA clarified that its health centers conducted approximately 74,000 child screenings during this period to detect malnutrition cases, with around 5,500 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition, more than 800 of whom are in critical condition, highlighting the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
