Jumblatt Warns Syrian Druze of the Dangers of Division
وليد جنبلاط

Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt has called on members of his community to maintain their Arab identity, warning of the potential dangers of Syria's division.

In his speech delivered on Sunday to commemorate the anniversary of the assassination of his father, Kamal Jumblatt, he sent a clear message to the Druze community: "Preserve your Arab identity and your shared struggle with Arab nationalists and Syrians in the face of colonialism and mandate rule."

During his address, which was attended by a large crowd in the Mount Lebanon governorate, Jumblatt emphasized the importance of maintaining the community's position against the Israeli occupation of Syrian land in the Golan. He stated, "Be careful to uphold your Islamic heritage, and beware of the intellectual penetration of Zionism that seeks to turn you into a separate ethnicity.

The Lebanese politician also warned that some individuals within the community are being used as a tool to divide Syria and the rest of the region under the banner of "minority alliances."

Regarding the visit of some Druze figures to Israel, Jumblatt affirmed that this "does not negate the fact that the land is occupied," stressing the importance of national awareness.

Jumblatt concluded his speech by emphasizing the necessity of rebuilding Lebanese-Syrian relations and upholding the legitimate Palestinian rights, highlighting the importance of finding a just solution that ensures the establishment of a Palestinian state.
