Protests in Al-Darbasiya Against the Syrian Constitution's Neglect of Kurdish Rights
احتجاجات في الدرباسية

Today, the city of Al-Darbasiya in the countryside of Qamishli witnessed a protest by a group of citizens in response to the Syrian constitution's disregard for the rights of the Kurdish people.

Demonstrators called for the establishment of a pluralistic system that guarantees the rights of all Syrian components, emphasizing that the Kurdish component is the second largest in Syria.

The protesters insisted that the current Syrian regime perpetuates tyranny and dictatorship, clarifying that Syria should belong to everyone and that the exclusion of Kurdish rights and those of other components under an unjust constitution cannot continue.

On March 16, the Syrian Observatory documented hundreds of residents from the city of Al-Hasakah protesting against the Syrian constitution in front of the International Coalition base, "Minister's Rest".

This protest comes at a time when fears are growing that the new constitution may grant unlimited powers to the president during a transitional period of up to five years, raising concerns among many Syrian components that this measure could establish an absolute rule away from political pluralism.
