Syrian Man Dies Under Torture After Returning from Germany for a Short Visit
شاب سوري يفقد حياته تحت التعذيب بعد عودته من ألمانيا في زيارة قصيرة

A young man from the Qaboun neighborhood in Damascus lost his life under torture just days after being arrested near the Umayyad Mosque, with no clear charges or reasons disclosed for his detention.

The young man had recently returned from Germany for a brief visit to Syria to address some family matters. However, his visit took a tragic turn when he was detained by security forces. Days later, his family received his body, which bore clear signs of torture. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights obtained images of the body showing bruises and wounds across various parts of his body.

This incident once again highlights the ongoing violations against civilians and the persistence of arbitrary arrests without due process. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has called for an immediate and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, holding those responsible accountable, and ensuring justice for the victim’s family in accordance with legal standards.

According to the Observatory, the number of detainees who have died under torture in detention centers run by the so-called "Interim Government" has risen to 45, most of them from Homs province — a deeply alarming indicator of the growing number of deaths and abuses within these facilities.
