The Body of a Detainee Handed Over to His Family After Nearly Four Months in Custody in the Jableh Countryside
Syrian society is experiencing growing tensions amid allegations of repressive practices and torture by security agencies. According to reports, more than ten people have died while in custody.
The Internal Security Forces in Latakia province handed over the body of detainee "Louay Mohammad Dhorouf" to his family in the village of "Ras al-Ain", in the countryside of Jableh, after he had been detained for nearly four months.
The incident has prompted calls for the circumstances surrounding his death to be disclosed, including the location and conditions of his detention, as well as for an independent investigation to establish the cause of death and identify those responsible. As of the time of publication, no official details had been released regarding the cause or date of his death.
