U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio Warns Hamas Not to Underestimate Trump's Warnings

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Hamas not to underestimate President Donald Trump's warnings.

Rubio explained that Trump has lost his patience regarding the current situation and that Hamas must immediately respond to his demands concerning the issue of the Israeli captives.

He added that Trump has created sufficient space and time to resolve the hostage problem, and that it is time to put an end to this crisis, emphasizing that Hamas must take Trump's threats seriously, as he will only express them if he is serious about them. Rubio expressed hope that Hamas would do exactly as President Trump requested.

With no clear path for an agreement to extend the ceasefire in Gaza, and negotiations for the next phase having stalled after Israel and the United States rejected the outcomes of the emergency Arab summit in Cairo, President Trump issued a “final warning” to Hamas to release the captives, and the likelihood of returning to war is becoming the most plausible scenario.

President Trump has warned Hamas leaders to leave Gaza and release all living and deceased prisoners, threatening the residents of the Gaza Strip with death and high costs if all prisoners are not released, affirming that he will send Israel everything it needs to complete the task, according to his statements.

In a post on his social media platform "Truth Social," Trump addressed the residents of Gaza, stating that "a beautiful future awaits you, but not if you keep the hostages."

In this context, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department confirmed to Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels that President Trump is committed to bringing all Americans who are unjustly detained or imprisoned abroad back home, which includes Americans and others whom Hamas still holds in Gaza.

Amid the obstacles facing the transition to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which concluded its first phase last Saturday after lasting for 42 days, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff proposed a new vision that ensures the extension of the truce in exchange for the release of all captives. The situation remains volatile, especially as Israel insists on Hamas's removal from the scene and disarming Gaza, and the Palestinian movement has rejected "bargaining over the weapons of resistance," describing it as a red line.
