35 Killings and Acts of Violence Recorded in Preliminary Tally Since the Start of the Month
المرصد السوري: 35 حادثة قتل وعنف في حصيلة أولية منذ مطلع الشهر

The preliminary toll of casualties this month stands at 35 deaths resulting from killings and acts of violence, reflecting the continuing security and humanitarian risks facing civilians and military personnel. Causes of death include murder, sectarian-motivated executions, clashes, gunfire and war remnants, as well as incidents whose circumstances remain unclear.

Murders were the leading cause, accounting for 12 deaths, followed by seven sectarian-motivated executions. Three people were killed by stray bullets, while two died in clashes.

The tally also includes one death caused by gunfire from government forces and another by Israeli gunfire, as well as three deaths in unknown circumstances. It further records a child killed by war remnants, one death linked to the Turkish gendarmerie, and another caused by a hand grenade. The Observatory also documented three deaths among military personnel caused by war remnants.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the figures reflect the ongoing threats facing residents amid the proliferation of weapons and continued violence. Explosive remnants of war and unexploded ordnance also continue to claim the lives of civilians and military personnel.

The toll comes amid widespread insecurity, while large areas remain contaminated with war remnants. This increases the daily risks facing residents and underscores the need for serious measures to protect them and hold those responsible for killings and violence accountable.

The Observatory called on the relevant authorities to launch independent and transparent investigations into all killings, particularly those involving sectarian-motivated executions and stray gunfire; clarify the circumstances of deaths recorded as having occurred under unknown circumstances; and hold those responsible accountable under the law. It also urged authorities to take urgent steps to protect civilians, clear war remnants and unexploded ordnance, and raise public awareness of the dangers they pose.

The Observatory noted that the tally is preliminary and may be updated as documentation and verification continue.
