Death of Sheikh Marjah Shahin after being insulted and stormed in the Rif of Sweida
Sources close to the elderly Sheikh Marjah Shahin, who is estimated to be over 80 years old, reported that he died after appearing in a video recorded by members of the government forces, during which they insulted him, in the town of Thekleh in western Sweida countryside on Tuesday.
The sources explained that the Sheikh, who showed tears in his eyes during the shocking scene, remained inside his home after government forces stormed his village in western Sweida countryside, believing that his eighty years were enough to grant him immunity, especially after they claimed they came to "protect the residents and resolve the clashes."
Local sources indicate that the storming operations by government forces targeted several villages, including Wolga and Thekleh, where field executions took place inside some homes. The number of victims and the locations of their bodies remain difficult to determine due to the mass displacement of residents from these villages.
