Syrian Family Calls for Information on the Whereabouts of Raed Khaled Nassar After His Detention in Quneitra
The family of **Raed Khaled Nassar** has called on the Syrian Ministry of Interior and the relevant authorities to disclose his whereabouts after he was detained in Quneitra on **July 29, 2026**, according to a formal complaint submitted by the family.
Nassar had visited the **Immigration and Passports Department in Quneitra** to obtain a passport. Shortly afterward, all contact with him was lost. When the family contacted the department’s director, he allegedly acknowledged that Nassar had been detained because of what he described as a “security record,” referring to previous security restrictions dating back to the former regime.
According to the family, the director refused to identify the security agency to which Nassar had been transferred and instead told them: **“Go and look for him at the intelligence services.”**
The family said it subsequently contacted several security and intelligence branches in the area, all of which denied holding Nassar or having any information about his whereabouts. The family therefore considers the incident a case of **arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance**.
The family also stated that Nassar is a wounded former participant in the Syrian revolution, having been injured twice during battles against the former regime. Several of his relatives were reportedly killed or wounded during the same period. The family believes that the security restrictions imposed on him may have been politically motivated or based on malicious allegations.
It called on the Ministry of Interior and the relevant authorities to launch an urgent and independent investigation, determine Nassar’s place of detention, ensure his safety, and release him if there is no lawful basis for his continued detention. It also demanded that anyone responsible for violations against him be held accountable.
