Syrian-Dutch Citizen Killed in Aleppo Amid Property Dispute
Ahmed al-Jassem, known as “Abu Moataz,” a Syrian citizen holding Dutch nationality, was killed today in the city of Aleppo in an incident believed to be linked to a legal and financial dispute over a property he owned in the area.
According to local sources close to the victim, al-Jassem had spent many years displaced in Europe, where he obtained Dutch citizenship, before returning to Syria on repeated visits to follow up on efforts to reclaim his property, which the sources said had been seized during the years of the war.
The sources added that al-Jassem had pursued legal channels and turned to the courts to claim his rights and recover his property. However, he was killed on his land under circumstances that remain unclear, amid indications of a direct connection between the crime and the ongoing property dispute.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family and relatives called on the relevant authorities to launch a serious and comprehensive investigation into the incident, identify all those involved, and hold them accountable in accordance with the law.
