General Security forces arrested two Kurdish brothers from the city of Afrin in northern Aleppo province as they were returning to the city during an official leave, despite carrying official documents issued by the Ministry of Defense. The reasons for their arrest and the charges against them remain unknown.

According to information available to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, no explanation has been provided regarding the legal basis for the arrest. The brothers’ place of detention and the authority holding them are also unknown. The lack of information about their fate has raised concerns about their safety and the conditions of their detention.

The Observatory called for the brothers’ fate and place of detention to be disclosed immediately, and for the reasons for their arrest and the charges against them to be clarified. It also called for their safety and legal rights to be guaranteed, and for their family to be allowed to contact them and check on their well-being, ensuring that they are not arbitrarily detained or denied legal safeguards.

On Sunday, the Observatory reported the arrest of a Kurdish man from the village of Shiran, in the countryside of Ain al-Arab (Kobani), east of Aleppo. Reports indicated that he was severely beaten during the arrest. The charges against him and his whereabouts since his arrest remain unknown.
