After a bloody night... calm returns to the Ashrafiyeh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods

The city of Aleppo witnessed a serious security escalation, where a security officer was killed and several members of the Internal Security Forces were injured following an attack on a checkpoint carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). A security source confirmed that one police officer was killed during the attack, while it is also rumored that Kurdish fighters affiliated with the SDF repelled the attack by government forces.
In a related context, residents told Reuters that dozens of families fled from the city’s neighborhoods, seeking safe haven amid a state of panic and confusion.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that SDF forces targeted security checkpoints around the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, resulting in the death of a member of the Internal Security Forces and injuries to four others, in addition to damage to civilian properties. It also mentioned that several wounded were brought to Al-Razi Hospital following the targeting of residential areas with mortar shells and heavy machine guns, with snipers deployed on rooftops in the neighborhoods.
The situation also involved direct injuries, as a woman was wounded by sniper fire in Sheikh Taha neighborhood, and civilians including women and children were injured due to shelling of residential areas in Midan and Bustan Al-Basha neighborhoods with rocket shells. Additionally, rocket shelling on Sif al-Dawla neighborhood resulted in the death of a civilian and injuries to four others, reflecting a bloody escalation that underscores the intensity of the tension and ongoing conflict in the region.
