Elderly Man Dies Under Torture in Damascus Detention Facility as Family Threatened to Prevent Funeral Mourning
تيسير محمود صليبي

Local sources reported the death of 71-year-old Taysir Mahmoud Salibi inside Branch 202 in the capital, Damascus, after he was detained along with his three sons last May.

According to the sources, Salibi’s body was handed over to his family in the Saasaa area of the Damascus countryside, while the family was prevented from holding mourning ceremonies and threatened with consequences if they disobeyed the orders.

The sources added that family members were forced to sign a document stating that the death had resulted from a heart attack, while local accounts maintain that the elderly man died as a result of torture and ill-treatment inside the detention facility.
