Netanyahu Expresses Rejection of the Gaza Military Operation Name and Affirms Continued Conflict

Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed dissatisfaction with the name of the new military operation aimed at controlling Gaza City, which was called "Gadion Vehicles 2." An Israeli Channel 13 report explained that the reason for this is that the name, in its initial stage, did not receive broad public approval, prompting Netanyahu to seek changing the operation's name to "Iron Fist" in order to boost media and public support.
While Netanyahu confirmed Israel's firm intention to begin negotiations to release all prisoners and end the war, he emphasized that any future deal must align with Israel's conditions, opening the door to rejecting any offer that does not meet Israeli standards.
In the ongoing military engagement, the Maariv newspaper quoted military sources estimating that operations in Gaza could continue for coming months, with the Israeli army preparing to gradually call up reserve forces to support current operations. The sources highlight that Netanyahu is fully aware that a ceasefire could threaten the stability of his government, yet he insists on continuing until the objectives are achieved, despite clear rising criticism domestically and internationally over the level of destruction and human losses caused by the operations.
The "Gadion Vehicles 2" operation is the current phase of the Israeli attack on Gaza, part of the ongoing war now entering its several months, primarily targeting Hamas. Regarding military preparations, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz confirmed that the call-up of reserve soldiers, as well as compulsory and regular service, continues in order to achieve Israel's goals, which include freeing prisoners, defeating Hamas, and ending the war on terms that serve Israeli interests.
