Writings on the Walls of Palmyra Cemetery Include Calls for the Dismissal of Local Officials
Today, writings and statements appeared on the walls of the cemetery in the city of Palmyra, in the eastern countryside of Homs. The messages included criticism of the performance of several local officials, calls for the dismissal of the director of the Palmyra District, the head of the municipality, and members of the executive office, as well as allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
According to available information, residents were surprised to find the statements spread across the cemetery walls. Their content reflected growing dissatisfaction with the officials’ performance and the city’s deteriorating administrative and service conditions, along with demands to remove several officials from their positions.
The writings sparked reactions among residents amid repeated complaints about the decline in basic services and worsening living conditions in Palmyra. This has contributed to increasing criticism of the local authorities responsible for managing the city’s affairs.
These developments come amid popular calls to improve living and service conditions, address the problems facing residents, and respond to their demands regarding local administration and the provision of essential services.
