Deir Ezzor: ISIS Cells Target Syrian Democratic Forces

Cells affiliated with the Islamic State carried out simultaneous attacks on two military points of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the town of Granij in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, using RPG shells and automatic weapons in their assaults.
These attacks resulted in armed clashes between the two sides, coinciding with a heightened state of security alert in the area, with no confirmed information about casualties reported so far. For their part, the attacking organization’s members fled to an unknown location after carrying out the attack.
These assaults come at a time when the organization’s cells are increasing their activity in various areas of Deir Ezzor.
The Syrian Observatory documented 70 operations carried out by ISIS cells in areas under the control of the "Self-Administration" since the beginning of 2025. These operations include armed attacks, targeted shootings, and explosions. According to the Observatory’s reports, these operations resulted in the deaths of 28 individuals, including 18 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces and affiliated military formations, 5 ISIS members, and 5 civilians.
