Detainee Killed and Police Officer Injured in Shooting Inside Latakia Courthouse
A shooting at the courthouse in the city of Latakia today left one detainee dead and a police officer injured, amid chaos and heightened security inside the building.
According to preliminary reports, the family of a young man who had previously been killed was present at the courthouse while a hearing was being held for a defendant in the case. Reports indicate that one family member opened fire on a detainee being escorted by security personnel to the criminal court, mistakenly believing that he was the person accused of killing his brother.
