eli Army Announces Deployment of 4 Combat Units in Southern Syria

The Israeli army announced on Thursday that four of its combat units remain deployed in southern Syria, coinciding with U.S. Defense Secretary's call for "close consultation" between Tel Aviv and Washington regarding the rapidly evolving situation in Syria.
The Israeli army stated that one of the combat units addressed threats along the border within the buffer zone between Israel and Syria, even seizing unused Syrian tanks. The army’s statement emphasized that the aim of Israeli operations is to ensure the safety of civilians in the north of the country.
In earlier statements, Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari mentioned that Israel, after assessing the situation in the northern Golan region, decided to enhance its operations there, transitioning from partial activity to full-scale operations.
On another front, the U.S. Defense Department reported that Secretary Lloyd Austin informed his Israeli counterpart Yisrael Katz in a phone call that it is essential for Washington and Tel Aviv to have "close consultation regarding the ongoing developments in Syria."
Austin confirmed to his Israeli counterpart that the United States is closely monitoring the situation in Syria and supports a peaceful political transition that includes all parties. He also mentioned that the U.S. will continue its efforts to prevent ISIS from re-establishing a safe haven in Syria.
Following rapid advancements, Syrian opposition fighters led by Ahmad al-Shara managed to end more than 50 years of Assad family rule, prompting President Bashar al-Assad to flee to Russia, as the world anticipates whether the new rulers in Syria will succeed in stabilizing the country.
In the wake of the collapse of the Assad regime, the Israeli army reported that it has conducted hundreds of airstrikes in Syria, resulting in the destruction of the majority of Syria's strategic weapon stockpiles.
The U.S. Defense Department confirmed that Secretary Austin emphasized the importance of close consultation between the United States and Israel regarding events in Syria. He also discussed with Katz the efforts to secure the release of Israelis held in Gaza and urged Israel to improve the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian sector.
