Hamas Agrees to Trump’s Proposal Concerning Gaza

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), after completing consultations with Palestinian factions and mediating countries, announced its approval of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip. The plan includes the handing over of prisoners and bodies, as well as transferring the management of the sector to an independent Palestinian technocratic body. The movement confirmed that its decision was motivated by the desire to stop the aggression, and expressed its readiness to engage in immediate negotiations through mediators to discuss the implementation of the agreement’s terms, while emphasizing the importance of creating suitable conditions for this.
Hamas stated in a press release that its stance comes within the framework of Palestinian national consensus and aims to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and work toward ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. It pointed out that the American proposal, including future issues, will be discussed within a national framework that unites all parties, and that this is a shared responsibility which the movement fully commits to participating in.
In a related context, Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzouk indicated that the movement has approved the regional and international vision presented by Egypt. He emphasized that implementing Trump’s plan requires negotiating understandings, and that the deadline of 72 hours for the handover of prisoners and bodies is unrealistic under current circumstances. He stressed that the future of Gaza must be determined nationally, and affirmed that weapons will remain in the hands of the Palestinian people. He underscored that the issue is not only about disarmament but also involves comprehensive Palestinian dialogue and partnership.
