Israeli Bill Aims to Attract Druze from Suwayda
The Israeli Knesset is studying a draft law intended to grant permanent residence to the Druze community from the Suwayda region in southern Syria. This move is considered by observers to serve Israel's strategic interests.
The draft law allows the Israeli Ministry of Interior to issue permanent residencies to Druze who meet certain conditions, including having family ties with Israelis, participating in security agencies, or making civil donations. All applications will undergo thorough security and political assessments.
While official statements promote this law as a measure to protect the Druze from political pressures and the crises in Syria, analysts suggest that the real objective is to use the Druze community as a strategic barrier that enhances Israel's influence in the region.
