More nations from Islamic world slam India over Prophet Muhammad row

Negative reactions from the Muslim world continued over BJP officials' statements against the Prophet Muhammad on Tuesday (7 June) with Malaysia, Turkey, Libya and Iraq also joined others in condemning the controversial statements against the Prophet.
While Malaysia and Iraq summoned Indian ambassadors to lodge a protest, the spokesperson of the ruling party of Turkey condemned the comments saying these were an insult not only to Muslims in India but also to Muslims all over the world.
The spokesperson said: “We expect the Government of India to take the necessary measures in the face of increasing Islamophobia and strengthen the religious freedom of Muslims."
While condemning what it described as derogatory remarks against the Prophet, Malaysia called upon India to work together in ending “Islamophobia and cease any provocative acts in the interest of peace and stability.”

Egypt-based Arab Parliament also expressed its strong condemnation of, and rejection of the “irresponsible remarks issued by the spokeswoman of India’s ruling (party BJP) against Prophet Muhammad”.
In a statement, the Arab Parliament said such remarks fully contradict the principle of tolerance and interfaith dialogue, and lead to hate.

An Iraqi parliamentary committee said in a statement that “these abuses, malicious and disgraceful acts will have serious repercussions and, if not contained, may lead to dire consequences that will have unimaginable consequences for the peaceful coexistence, as well as increase strife and tensions between peoples”.
The Indian embassy said in response that “in line with our civilisational heritage and strong cultural traditions of unity in diversity, government of India accords the highest respect of all religions."
US officials raise concern over rising religious attacks in India
Libya’s ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation in a statement “strongly condemned” the “insulting remarks” and called for the consolidation of the values of tolerance and coexistence and the rejection of the discourse of violence and hatred.
On Monday (June 6), Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, the Maldives, UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman and Afghanistan condemned the controversial remarks against the Prophet, underlining the importance of respecting all religious beliefs.
