Return of life to Aleppo International Airport: First passenger plane lands after restart
مطار حلب الدولي

Today, Tuesday, the first passenger plane landed at Aleppo International Airport in northern Syria, following its reopening after the fall of the Baath regime in December.

The Syrian news agency "SANA" reported that "the airport was reopened today, with the first plane arriving from Damascus, attended by Aleppo Governor Izzam Al-Ghareeb."

The agency noted that "the airport is a vital gateway for the transport of passengers and goods, and its reopening comes after strenuous efforts that lasted three months for its maintenance and restoration."

"SANA" confirmed that this step represents progress towards economic revival, as part of a strategic vision aimed at reconnecting Syria with the world and facilitating the return of more than 10 million Syrian refugees scattered between Turkey and Europe to their homeland after a long absence.

The agency quoted the Director of Local and International Relations at the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, Alaa Salal, stating that "the reopening of the airport is not just a technical process, but a strategic step aimed at facilitating the return of refugees who have missed their families for more than 14 years."

Salal added that this step will contribute to attracting traders and local and foreign companies, especially in light of the presence of a large industrial city in Aleppo. It will also support humanitarian efforts by allocating flights for the transport of humanitarian aid and personnel from international organizations such as the United Nations.
