Snow blankets New York City with hundreds of flights canceled

The Xinhua reported that New York City and its surrounding areas recorded substantial snowfall as of Friday morning leading to the cancellation of hundreds of flights into and out of the area.
LaGuardia Airport posted 8.4 inches of snowfall as of 7 a.m. local time on Friday with 5.5 inches of snowfall at John F. Kennedy International Airport and 5 inches of snowfall at Newark Liberty International Airport, according to an update by the U.S. National Weather Service.
Meanwhile, the Central Park in New York City received 5.5 inches of snow, according to a tweet by the National Weather Service.
According to FlightAware.com, over 300 flights into and out of LaGuardia Airport have been canceled on Friday.
The FlightAware.com said that the canceled flights into and out of John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport totaled 468.
