The Iranian President Blames Washington for Escalating War Against His Country

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi explicitly accused the United States of being the main driver behind the recent military escalation against Iran, affirming that "the U.S. attack demonstrates that Washington is the driving force behind Israel’s strikes." He stated that the United States joined the scene after realizing Israel’s inability, adding that "this act clearly proves that America is the main instigator of the hostile actions carried out by the Zionist entity against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Raisi pointed out that "the Americans initially tried to conceal their role, but after the decisive response of the Iranian armed forces and witnessing Israel’s failure, they were forced to intervene directly in the confrontation." He emphasized that the Israeli assault on Iran, despite the damages it caused, should serve as a stimulus for the Iranian people to unite efforts and activate popular energies. He stressed that the Iranian people have repeatedly demonstrated their willingness to sacrifice in defense of their sovereignty.
In a related context, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the U.S. attacks on the Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz facilities during a press conference in Istanbul, describing them as a "major violation of international law." He confirmed that Tehran will continue to defend its sovereignty and interests, noting that Trump "not only deceived Iran but also deceived his own country." He stated that Washington crossed a "very significant red line" by attacking nuclear sites, and Iran may reconsider its commitments under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty while assessing the damage inflicted on nuclear facilities. He explained that Iranian armed forces are on high alert and that all options, including closing the Strait of Hormuz, are on the table.
Araghchi called on the IAEA Board of Governors to condemn the attacks on nuclear facilities, reaffirming that Tehran reserves the right to defend its security and interests. He also accused the American and Israeli eyes of "sabotaging diplomacy," questioning how Iran can return to negotiations amid ongoing attacks, clarifying that Iran has never left the negotiation table.
In a televised speech, Trump affirmed that the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities were a "resounding military success," claiming that the strikes completely destroyed the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan sites. He threatened to carry out further strikes if Iran does not retreat or respond, emphasizing that the United States will continue defending its interests and describing the attacks as a "resounding military success."
