Trump Selects Immigration Hawks to Lead White House Policies
-
The new appointments reflect Trump's strategy of relying on figures known for their hardline positions to implement his future vision for immigration

President-elect Donald Trump has called on his veteran advisor Stephen Miller, known for his hardline stance on immigration issues, to serve as Deputy White House Chief of Staff for Political Affairs in his upcoming administration.
Vice President-elect J.D. Vance quickly congratulated Miller via "X" platform on Monday, stating: "Another great choice by the President," while CNN was first to announce this appointment.
Miller emerged as one of the most prominent advisors during Trump's first term, playing a pivotal role in many policy decisions, particularly his initiative to separate thousands of migrant families as a deterrent measure in 2018. He also drafted many of Trump's speeches and strict immigration plans.
Since Trump left office, Miller has headed the "America First Legal" foundation, an organization gathering Trump's former advisors that was established as a conservative alternative to the "American Civil Liberties Union," to confront President Joe Biden's administration and media and academic institutions on issues like freedom of expression, belief, and national security.
Late Sunday, Trump announced the selection of Tom Homan to lead the agency responsible for U.S. border control in the upcoming administration.
Trump posted on Truth Social: "I am pleased to announce that former ICE Director and strong border advocate Tom Homan is joining the Trump administration and will be in charge of our border security (Border Czar)."
The Republican Trump will officially assume his duties in the White House at the beginning of 2025, following his victory over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5th election.
