“SDF” Violations in Hasakah: Calls for Immediate Release of Iman Al-Wardi
اعتقال السيدة إيمان الوردي من أهالي الحسكة

The Hasakah countryside in northeastern Syria is experiencing a rising state of tension and popular unrest due to violations committed by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against civilians, especially women. Recently, cases of arbitrary detention have increased significantly.

Local sources reported that the SDF detained young woman Iman Al-Wardi, originally from Hasakah city, under mysterious circumstances and without any clear charges. The sources added that the detainee was physically assaulted after her detention, which included stabbing her in the leg, leading to a deterioration in her health, particularly because she suffers from a chronic illness.

This development sparked widespread anger among popular and tribal circles, with tribal elders demanding her immediate release. They considered the detention of women a flagrant violation of social norms and human values, as well as a breach of international laws that guarantee the protection of civilians.

Observers believe that continued such practices threaten to escalate tensions in the region, amid growing public opposition to SDF’s security policies, with warnings of a larger social explosion if these violations persist.

Iman Al-Wardi’s case has become a widely discussed public issue, after activists launched solidarity campaigns on social media under the hashtag:

#Iman_AlWardi

which reflects the extent of popular discontent and calls for an end to violations and her immediate release.
