Donald Trump... an era of peace has vanished... replaced by an era of crises
ترامب

American President Donald Trump announced during his speech before the United Nations General Assembly today, Tuesday, that "the era of peace has vanished, replaced by an era of crises." Trump emphasized that America has regained its global standing, possessing the strongest army, economy, and relationships, considering his presidency to represent "America’s golden age." He added that "money is flowing into America, and we are working on building the best and greatest economy."

Regarding the immigration file, Trump clarified that "the number of foreigners entering America illegally has reached zero," indicating his efforts to reduce illegal migration flows.

Amid international efforts to face crises from Gaza to Ukraine, many world leaders doubt the United States’ readiness, under its "America First" policies, to play a leading role in international affairs. Since taking office in January 2017, Trump has drastically changed US foreign policies, cutting foreign aid, imposing tariffs on both allied and adversarial countries, and establishing warmer, though sometimes volatile, relations with Russia. He has also sought to resolve intractable conflicts, but his successes have been limited so far.

It is expected that around 150 heads of state and government will deliver speeches before the General Assembly this week, including Trump, who will give his second speech after the session opening, around 13:00 GMT.

Trump’s speech came eight months after the start of his second term, which saw sharp reductions in aid and raised humanitarian concerns and doubts about the future of the United Nations, prompting Secretary-General António Guterres to try to improve efficiency and cut costs.

Among the issues on the agenda, unofficial reports indicate that the Trump administration intends, during this week, to withdraw from the humanitarian protection framework established after World War II by imposing strict asylum restrictions, requiring asylum seekers to apply for protection in their first entry country instead of having the freedom to choose.

Guterres and Trump are scheduled to hold an official meeting—the first between them since Trump’s return to the White House in January. Trump regards the United Nations as possessing "tremendous potential," but believes it must "organize itself," maintaining a cautious stance towards multilateralism, which was a hallmark of his first term from 2017 to 2021, and accuses the organization of not providing sufficient support in mediating conflicts.
