Hundreds of Bedouin Families Return to Their Villages in Rural Sweida

Approximately one hundred Bedouin families in Sweida Governorate are preparing to return to their villages and homes in eastern rural Sweida, according to local media sources, after being forced to leave their residences due to the bloody events that took place in the region.
This step comes after a period of forced displacement caused by the conflict and violence that the area experienced, amid hopes of restoring normal life and returning to the lands they cultivate and work on.
The United Nations indicated that around 190,000 people from southern Syria were displaced from their homes due to the violence that erupted in July 2025.
These events resulted in the death of dozens of civilians, along with casualties among Syrian security forces, members of Bedouin tribes, armed factions, and local militias fighting over land, control, and influence.
Reports also mention that the crisis has been exploited by Israel, which took advantage of the security chaos to expand its influence, especially following an attack on the Damascus-Sweida road in July 2025, which escalated tensions in the area and deepened divisions despite efforts at calming the situation.
The return of Bedouin families is expected to contribute to strengthening economic and social stability in the region. Many residents see this step as a new beginning toward security and development, despite the challenges related to reconstruction and returning to normal life amid suitable conditions.
