Iran: The U.S. Has Been Supporting Israel and Waging War Against Us from the Beginning

Amid ongoing escalation between Israel and Iran for the ninth consecutive day, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian confirmed that the situation in the region has become extremely difficult, emphasizing the severity of tensions and the international pressure faced by Tehran.

In a press statement from Istanbul, where he arrived to participate in the OIC Ministerial Meeting, Amir-Abdollahian pointed out that the United States is playing a negative role by exerting pressure on Iran, describing this as "disappointing." He added that Washington has been one of the main supporters of Israeli attacks since the beginning of the escalation, in an attempt to reinforce Iran’s firm and cohesive stance.

At the same time, Iran’s foreign minister stressed Tehran’s readiness to engage in negotiations aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the nuclear issue, but emphasized that the war must be halted first, taking a clear position on the importance of de-escalation before any dialogue.

Amir-Abdollahian also reaffirmed that the Iranian people stand firmly behind their army and support it strongly. He underscored that Tehran is exercising its legitimate right to self-defense against unjustified Israeli attacks, stressing that Iran will not retreat from its right to respond to violations.

In another development, he clarified yesterday after his meeting with the European Troika foreign ministers in Geneva that it is impossible to achieve the Washington-demanded condition of zero uranium enrichment, but he expressed openness to some substantive concessions.

In related news, U.S. President Donald Trump gave Iran a two-week deadline to respond to the new American proposal, which involves establishing a regional consortium allowing uranium enrichment outside Iran’s territory, before making a final decision on whether to intervene or not in the ongoing conflict. This move aims to contain the escalation and seek a political pathway to resolve the crisis.
